That if I would get the courage and be the best I can, Not everyone would like that. That if I respected myself by not letting others disrespect me, Some people would get offended. That by allowing myself to shine, That some people would say my brilliance is blinding them. That when I attempt to do well, That some would say I’m up to no good. That no matter what I do, Others can only see what is within them to see. That when I share what I know, Some others think I’m a know-it-all. That when I take a position of leadership Others may be jealous. When I am whole hearted and share with honesty and love, Some will say that I am foolish That when I do what others think is too hard to do Some will say “she’s setting herself up for a fall” When I reap the success I’ve earned in my life Others may say, “Some people have all the luck” If I honour my body with enough sleep and healthy food Some people will say, “Oh it just comes natural to her” That if I would learn to love myself, to become truly happy with who I am Others might not share in my happiness and say, “who does she think she is being so happy?” Dang why didn’t anybody tell me? I suppose when it comes down to it nobody ever told me because what really matters is what’s inside of me – It really just doesn’t matter what others might say ?
